Data acquisition is when you take samples from an environment or event and generate data. This data can then be converted by a computer into a graph or session. Data acquisition, also known as DAQ, usually involves collecting waveforms and signals and processing those signals to produce your desired information. Data acquisition systems are made up of a collection of appropriate sensors that convert your measurement parameter into an electrical signal, this signal is then turned into data by a piece of data acquisition hardware, such as data loggers. The data is then displayed, analysed, and stored on a computer.
